While most organizations expect
their managers to be leaders, the emphasis during hiring and performance
assessments is frequently on management metrics rather than leadership skills.

typical scenario: people pursue managerial roles for the benefits, such as

Management is often associated
with maintaining stability and order within an organization and it involves
tasks such as,
- Problem Solving- Addressing day-to-day issues
- Process optimization- Ensuring that operations run efficiently and smoothly
- Resource Allocation effectively to meet organizational Goals
- Compliance with policies and regulations
Managers typically focus on maintaining
and following the existing organizational structure and systems and they ensure
that the essential functions such as payments, production, planning are done reliably.
Leadership, on the other side,
fosters vision, creativity, and innovation. It involves
- Visionary thinking – Envisioning the future state of the organization
- Strategic planning to achieve that vision
- Culture building by creating an inspiring and positive work environment
- Risk-taking by embracing new ideas and approaches
Leadership and management are
intertwined. Good management is required to assist the company in meeting
present commitments, whereas good leadership is required to drive the firm
forward.

This complimentary relationship is critical for firms to succeed in today's competitive environment.
